Squalene
Squalene owes its name to its strong presence in sharks' livers, although it can, in the same way, be found in plants. It is also produced by the human body since it is one of the constituents of sebum. Sebum is a mixture of water and fat that generates a protective and nourishing film on your skin. It is, therefore, a positive element, except when it is in excess. Squalene plays a soothing and emollient role, making the skin softer while fighting against dryness and desquamation (elimination of the superficial layers of the epidermis in the form of small flakes, a little like dandruff).
